Pokémon Champions & damage calculator guide | Pokical

Learn to use the Pokémon Champions and Pokémon damage calculator in Pokical: prepare teams, convert EVs to SPs, import Showdown or PokePaste sets, and read damage ranges and KO chances. Pokical is an unofficial fan tool.

1. Choose your starting screen

Choose Champions for Pokémon Champions calculations. Battle setup is for Champions singles, while the standalone damage calculator supports Champions and generations 1–9.

Your first visit opens Battle setup. Use it to compare your team with opposing candidates during a match. Choose Calculator for an independent comparison between two Pokémon.

Battle is a workspace for your inputs and observations. It does not read the game screen or discover an opponent’s actual set. Results based on an estimated set are not confirmed information about the opponent.

2. Create and import your team

In Team builder, edit a starting team or create a new one. Add up to six Pokémon and configure each member’s item, ability, nature, SP and four moves.

Use the import feature for an existing team, then check the species, forms, moves and rules. Load team in the standalone calculator copies one saved member into an input panel without changing the original team.

Paste Showdown team text or a pokepast.es link. Champions converts EVs to SPs at level 50 with 31 IVs (252 EVs → 32 SPs, 4 EVs → 1 SP). Unused SP is not allocated. Original IVs and Tera conditions do not apply in Champions; import other generations in the matching standalone calculator mode.

  1. Select a Pokémon card and edit its set.
  2. Choose Save set to apply your changes.
  3. Select the team and three participants in Battle setup.
  4. Export important teams as a backup. Clearing site storage also removes locally saved teams.

3. Champions SP and SV EVs

Champions uses level 50 with a maximum of 66 total SP and 32 per stat. For example, 2 HP SP, 32 Attack SP and 32 Speed SP total 66. Nature modifiers are separate from stat stages changed during battle.

Selecting SV in the standalone calculator uses levels 1–100, IVs from 0–31, and at most 510 total EVs with 252 per stat. SP and EVs are different input units. Check the active rules and values after switching.

For example, 252 Attack / 4 Defense / 252 Speed EVs import as 32 Attack / 1 Defense / 32 Speed SP. The total is 65; the remaining SP is not assigned automatically. An original set relying on low IVs or Terastallization does not necessarily produce the same result in Champions.

An entry appearing in the calculator does not prove it is allowed in the current season or that the selected Pokémon can learn that move. Check tournament rules and learnsets separately.

The Showdown-style calculator

Choose generations 1–9 or Champions at the top. One vs One compares four moves on each side. Select a result for its damage, KO chance and rolls; select the same move again to lock it while editing. Copy result uses the current display language.

On desktop, Pokémon inputs sit on the left and right with the field between them. Edit levels, base stats, IVs, EVs, stages, natures, abilities, items, types, forms and HP. Move inputs include power, type, category, critical hits, consecutive uses and hit counts. Terastallization, Dynamax and Z-Moves appear in the applicable generations.

For One vs All or All vs One, choose tiers such as OU or UU and press Honkalculate. Sort the table by its headers, search results or choose visible columns. Random Battles uses a snapshot of published sets; Other Metagames provides Tier Shift, Mix and Mega and Scalemons options.

Load team on either side copies a saved Pokémon into Champions. The central Import / Export panel accepts canonical English Showdown text. Calculator drafts and custom sets are stored in this browser separately from saved teams and battle history.

4. Select participants and opposing candidates

Select three members of your team. The first selection is the lead, so check the order. Register up to six known opposing candidates and choose an estimated lead.

An opposing set is an assumption for comparison. Previewing a calculation is different from confirming an actual appearance or recording a move used. Confirm observations when they occur rather than treating an estimate as a fact.

Favorable and unfavorable labels summarize the entered sets and comparison conditions. They are not overall win probabilities and do not predict accuracy, the opponent’s choices or switching decisions.

5. Make quick changes during battle

Use party icons to choose the Pokémon being compared, then set HP, status and current types. Clicking a move card opens the move picker first. Its calculator icon opens details; its check button records use.

Set weather, terrain and Trick Room in the shared field. Configure screens, Tailwind and entry hazards for each side. SP and stage controls change different values; check the row before pressing ±. Hold a button to adjust repeatedly.

Advance turns or return to a previous turn to inspect recorded states. Undo cancels the latest input. A saved turn does not automatically supply actions that were not observed or entered.

6. Read damage ranges and KO results

A damage range shows the minimum and maximum possible rolls under the entered conditions. Read percentages against the target’s maximum HP, and check current HP and the detailed assumptions when interpreting a KO.

As a simple arithmetic example, if maximum and current HP are both 200 and direct damage is 125–150, damage is 62.5–75% and remaining HP is 50–75. With current HP changed to 130, the same damage range can KO on some rolls. This is an illustration, not a fixed prediction for a particular Pokémon.

“KO on hit” assumes the attack connects. It is not the move’s accuracy or an overall win rate. Status moves often deal no direct damage; a no-damage result does not mean the move has no effect.

Open details to inspect rolls, sets, entry hazards, end-of-turn effects and limitations. Copy results together with their conditions. The same move can produce different results when those conditions change.

7. Copied abilities, forms and action history

Enter observed values for copied abilities such as Trace, a transformation target, the current form and ability activation. Selecting an item or ability is different from satisfying its activation conditions.

Moves that depend on hits received or earlier actions need the relevant history and observation inputs. Pokical keeps entered turn states; it is not a simulator of every game event.

The calculator’s advanced inputs and Battle’s observation inputs serve different purposes. The standalone calculator compares the current inputs independently. If a result requests conditions or is unavailable, read its explanation and do not treat unknown observations as confirmed.

8. Layout, language and storage

Screen settings offers automatic, horizontal and stacked layouts. Left/right order and top/bottom order are saved separately. Compact horizontal layouts place party strips at the top, active Pokémon side by side and stat controls below.

KOR/ENG changes the display language while preserving teams and calculation inputs. Search for Pokémon and moves in Korean or English. Custom team names remain as you wrote them.

Teams, ongoing battles, calculator inputs and display/language preferences are stored in this browser. They do not automatically sync to other devices. Private browsing, storage restrictions or deleting site data can remove them. Keep exported team files separately.

9. Calculation sources and updates

Damage calculations use the bundled Smogon damage calculator with Pokical’s conversion of battle conditions. Engine and data updates go through compatibility checks. Changes to an external service do not automatically alter every calculation without validation.

Pokical is not an official service provided or endorsed by The Pokémon Company, Nintendo, Game Freak or Smogon. Game updates, rules changes and unsupported interactions can cause differences. Check detailed inputs and actual game behavior for important decisions.

English move, ability and item descriptions: Pokémon Showdown (MIT).These are general descriptions; check each calculation’s conditions and limitations for supported behavior.
